I can only imagine what the Pine Mountain police thought when three vans splashed with the IMPACT 360 logo rolled up into a field behind their precinct. Twenty-eight teenagers piled out, armed with pieces of cardboard shouting about crossing the “acid ocean” and worrying that if they didn’t get across in 30 minutes the boogey monsters would attack from the trees. Not to mention that many of the students had legs tied together, were blindfolded or gagged, all whilst wildly flailing their arms in an attempt to remain on balance.
This bizarre team-building game was designed to force us to rely on one another and begin building bonds that will last a lifetime. We didn’t know what to expect when we moved in the day before but for most of us crossing an “acid ocean” in an old field behind a police station was the furthest thing from our minds. That was the first full day of orientation at IMPACT 360.
Already, after a mere 72 hours, I have come to realize that each one of us is here for a specific purpose. I’m not sure what exactly that is or what it entails but I’m excited to see God work in us and through IMPACT 360. This year, we are seeking out His good and perfect will for our lives and are bringing others to His Kingdom. I personally feel unbelievably blessed to be a part of this community and I think I speak for the group when I say that this is going to be an incredible year growing in Christ and growing closer to each other.
