And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. John 17:3
This is good news. We are saved into a life of knowing God and the Holy Spirit is active to help and empower us to grow our relationship with God. Here are 3 ways you can grow your personal relationship with God:
1. Understand the Reasons
The Christian faith is not blind. We have good evidence for God’s existence and the truth of the Bible.
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” A.W. Tozer
We can grow our knowledge of God by exploring the truth of Christianity and diving into scripture to study the character of God, His attributes, and who He has created us to be.
2. Develop Solid Relationships
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Proverbs 13:20
The people we spend time with influence who we are becoming.
We cannot go about disciples well if we are not first building a foundation of wise relationships – mentors and friends who are encouraging us to pursue Christ first before all else.
3. Create Rhythms
Building and consistently practicing healthy habits in our life helps us grow.
- Read God’s word and practice listening to His voice.
- Talk to God – give Him thanks and share what’s on your heart.
- Get involved in your church, tell people about Jesus, and find other ways to serve others.
Life in Christ is all about knowing God. It is out of the overflow of our relationship with God that we influence the people around us for the kingdom. Having good reasons, relationships, and life rhythms are three ways we can grow our relationship with God.
