It would be incredibly difficult to pick my favorite class out of everything we have learned so far but this week definitely made it on the list to consider. Our topic for the week was on ethical morality. It was easy to believe going into class on Monday, after completing our reading assignment, “Moral Choices” by Scott Rae and “Mere Christianity” by C.S. Lewis, that I had this all figured out. And of course, as anyone who has this mind set, I was proved wrong.
In “Moral Choices” it explains different systems that people will make ethical decisions by. Personally, I was intrigued by this because most people have told me that I am a very “black and white” kind of person. It was comforting to know that even though people will lean towards different systems none of them are inherently wrong. Moreover, as a class we saw each person’s view play out when we discussed different issue.
In fact, during our class time we had many opportunities to debate with each other on different moral dilemmas that are commonly faced today. The scenarios we were given were not simple to answer and most of the time our conclusions left us wanting. However, they were thought provoking and they provided a taste of what we will deal with in later on, if not already. To say the least, this week was beneficial and enjoyed thoroughly by yours truly.
