What is the Room of Grace? The Room of Grace is where God is truly present. Not the God we project, but the God who is.
Here we don’t have to worry about pleasing God or doing our best to live up to a set standard, but we can come as we are to be loved by Christ. The road of Pleasing God leads to being burdened by our sin because there is no true escape from sin on our own. Another “Room”, The Room of Good Intentions holds those who try their best to get rid of their sin in order to please God before coming to Him. In the Room of Grace, Christ looks past our sins and sees us and loves us no matter how much sin we have in our past. We can come bearing our burdens to the Room of Grace and Christ will accept us all the same.
Placing your identity in Christ means giving your life completely over to Christ and letting Him have full control over your life. With Christ at the center of our identity, everything else in our life directly flows from that.
“When we place our identity in Him, we don’t have to worry about all of the sins that we bear.”
Christ knows all of our sins and still looks beyond them. Having an identity based on Christ should affect all things in your life and should provide a foundation for all of our actions. When we identify as Christ’s, we give Him the burden of our sin because we cannot hold them up on our own.
Walking into the Room of Grace, I looked past the lies that kept me from viewing myself the way God truly sees me. Taking this step, my walls and masks came down to accept the truth of what God says. Choosing to follow this path is challenging and there are many other paths that are easier, but the easiest way out doesn’t necessarily reach the best outcome. The best outcome is when we realize that we cannot hold it all together on our own so we cry out to the one who can and wants to hold us. As someone who has placed their identity in Christ, I don’t have to struggle carrying a burden that is impossible to shoulder. I don’t have to hide behind masks that lead to false realities. I can come and be who Christ has made me to be without worrying what others might think, or having those lies whisper in my ear. Knowing this has allowed me to step into the identity that Christ has given me and release my burdens to Him.
Humbly,
